H&B Jewelry and Loan Company

H&B Jewelry and Loan Company was established in 1948 by Lou Tobin. Lou had just returned from chasing Hitler around Europe and was ready to settle down and start a family. Although Lou had no formal education, he developed a philosophy "Be fair with your customers, give them bargains and treat them with dignity and they will remain your customers forever." That philosophy is still in place. We are honored by generations of good customers and friends of H&B, and we remember they are the reason we are here.

H&B has been a member of the National Pawnbroker's Association since 1989, and is indeed Oregon's oldest licensed pawnbroker. For decades we have specialized in fine diamonds and fine jewelry. H & B is a member of the Jeweler's Board of Trade and Oregon State Jewelers Association, for more than 40 years.

In 1970, Phil Tobin (Lou's son) came into the company adding his own new dimension to an already thriving business. Phil has been at the helm for the past 50 years, moving the company into the 21st century with a standard that is unequaled in the pawn industry. Specializing in jewelry, H&B handles everything you would expect to find in a well-run organized pawnshop. Jewelry, cameras, musical instruments, and much more. The company averages over 100 loans per day and has a staff of professionals ready to help you.

Our Diamond customers as well as our short term loan customers span over 70 years and three generations. Not only do we sell unclaimed jewelry that comes from pawn, but we design and manufacture our own jewelry. Whether you are interested in engagement rings, earrings, bracelets, pendants, or a ”just because” item, H & B will help you design it and make it for you.

We created H&B Jewelry Replacement Co. to better service our clients who might be working with their insurance companies. Our diamond division will specialize in jewelry replacements by offering the finest possible choices, and for almost always less than retail. Be sure and run the diamond search engine, you'll find over 500 certified diamonds there, and surely one that meets your needs.

It just doesn't make sense to pay retail for jewelry. All diamonds are millions of years old. We steam clean the diamonds and polish the gold and voilà you have a new ring.
